About the Artists

Jerusalem QuartetAlexander Pavlovsky, violin
Sergei Bresler, violin
Amichai Grosz, viola
Kyril Zlotnikov, cello

These are impassioned, richly coloured performances, superbly recorded and playing up the music's volatile contrasts. The quartet, subtly detailed, beautifully balanced, ardently played, is even finer, with an unforgettably moving account of the slow movement.
- Richard Wigmore, The Daily Telegraph, June 2006

One of the most dynamic and exciting quartets currently performing, the Jerusalem Quartet continues to be in great demand all over the world. 2006/07 has seen the continuation of the QuartetÕs incredibly successful Shostakovich cycle at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Berlin Konzerthaus, Dortmund Konzerthaus and in the Vancouver Recital Series. They have also returned to the Wigmore Hall and the Cologne Philharmonie, as well as performing in Brussels, Paris, Munich, Luxembourg and Geneva. They will also be returning to Chicago, New York and Washington later this season. This summer they make their debut at the Verbier Festival and will be performing a three-concert Brahms project in the Robeco Summer Concert Series in Amsterdam. They continue as Musica VivaÕs Quartet-in-Residence from 2006 until 2009, returning to Australia in June 2007 having toured Japan in February 2007.

Adding to their growing discography with Harmonia Mundi, their Dvorak recording with pianist Stefan Vladar was released in May 2006 and they will be making an extensive European tour together in November 2007. Their third CD for Harmonia Mundi is a recording of Shostakovich Quartets 6, 8 and 11 (1, 4, 9 and having been released in May 2005) will be released in April 2007. Their first CD on Harmonia Mundi of three Haydn quartets was released in spring 2004.
